From AEO to VAT: learning foreign trade at the AWA

Even in times of economic uncertainty, international trade is important for all companies. Successful foreign trade requires thorough knowledge of a range of subjects. Regardless of whether customs, export controls or VAT are involved, those confronted with these subjects on a daily basis know all too well the perils and pitfalls that await the unprepared.

The AWA FOREIGN TRADE ACADEMY teaches complex subjects understandably, using practical examples and to a high level of expertise. We hold courses on the following subjects:

We hold both basic and expert seminars on these subjects and also offer individual seminars dealing with related themes and current developments.

Customs law and foreign trade law are subject to constant change: currently, economic participants have to familiarize themselves with the introduction of electronic export clearance systems (i.e. internet export declaration, internet clearance for approved importers) as well as the authorized economic operator (AEO). The Modernized Customs Code (MCC) will also introduce changes. The same is true of export controls: embargoes and entries on sanctions lists ("terrorist lists") must be complied with and even US export control law having an increasing effect on customs procedures.

Denn Zollrecht, Steuerrecht und das Außenwirtschaftsrecht sind äußerst schnelllebig: Aktuell müssen sich die Wirtschaftsbeteiligten mit den Vorbereitungen auf die Vorabanzeigen bei der Einfuhr und Vorabanzeigen bei der Ausfuhr (Pre-Declarations) auseinandersetzen. Bei der elektronischen Ausfuhrabwicklung unter ATLAS ist es nun Zeit für eine Bestandsaufnahme. Zugelassene Ausführer müssen nachweisen, dass sie die Bewilligungsvoraussetzungen weiterhin erfüllen (Stichwort: Verzahnung zwischen den AEO-Kriterien und der Bewilligung des Zugelassenen Ausführers) und hierfür einen Fragebogen ausfüllen, der weitestgehend dem AEO-C entspricht. Der Modernisierte Zollkodex (MZK) wird ebenfalls Änderungen mit sich bringen. Bei der Exportkontrolle ist es nicht anders: Embargos, wie das Iran-Embargo und Einträge auf den sogenannten Sanktionslisten („Terroristenlisten“) sind zu beachten, und auch das US-Exportkontrollrecht greift in immer mehr Vorgänge ein.
